Title: The Perils of Neglect: What Happens When You Forget to Replace Your Home Air Conditioning Filter for Over 2 Years

Introduction:

Your home’s air conditioning system plays a crucial role in maintaining a comfortable indoor environment, especially during scorching summers. But have you ever stopped to consider the impact of neglecting one vital component of your AC system? We’re talking about the air conditioning filter, a seemingly small and often overlooked component that plays a significant role in the efficiency and overall health of your cooling system. In this blog post, we’ll delve into the potential consequences of failing to replace your air conditioning filter for over two years.

  1. Reduced Airflow and Efficiency: The primary function of an air conditioning filter is to capture dust, dirt, pollen, pet dander, and other airborne particles, preventing them from circulating throughout your home. Over time, these particles accumulate on the filter, causing it to clog. A clogged filter restricts the airflow, making your AC system work harder to cool the air, resulting in decreased energy efficiency. As a result, your utility bills may skyrocket due to increased energy consumption.
  2. Strain on the AC System: When your air conditioning filter is clogged, it forces your AC system to work harder to maintain the desired temperature. The strain on the system’s components, such as the blower motor and compressor, can lead to premature wear and tear. Over time, this increased strain may cause mechanical failures, resulting in expensive repairs or even the need for a complete system replacement.
  3. Indoor Air Quality Decline: An often overlooked aspect of a neglected air conditioning filter is its impact on indoor air quality. The filter acts as a defense against airborne contaminants, capturing pollutants and preventing them from circulating in your home. However, when the filter is clogged, it becomes less effective in trapping these particles, allowing them to circulate freely. This can lead to poor indoor air quality, triggering or worsening respiratory issues, allergies, and other health problems, especially for individuals with pre-existing conditions.
  4. Dust Accumulation: A clogged air conditioning filter not only fails to prevent dust from entering your home but also contributes to dust accumulation within your HVAC system. As the filter becomes congested, particles may be pushed past the filter and into the ductwork, settling on the system’s internal components. This accumulation of dust can impede the system’s performance, leading to further inefficiencies and potential damage.
  5. Ice Formation and System Freeze-Ups: A neglected air conditioning filter can also result in ice formation on the evaporator coil. When the filter is clogged, the restricted airflow prevents sufficient warm air from reaching the evaporator coil, causing it to become excessively cold. As a result, condensation on the coil can freeze, leading to reduced cooling capacity and, in severe cases, complete system freeze-ups. This requires professional intervention to thaw the coil and resolve the underlying issue.

Conclusion:

While it may be tempting to neglect routine maintenance tasks such as replacing your air conditioning filter, the consequences can be significant. Reduced airflow, strain on the AC system, declining indoor air quality, dust accumulation, and potential system freeze-ups are all potential outcomes of neglecting this small but essential component. To ensure the longevity, efficiency, and overall health of your home air conditioning system, make it a priority to replace your air conditioning filter regularly, ideally every three months or as recommended by the manufacturer. Your comfort, health, and wallet will thank you in the long run.

It’s rainy, it’s pouring…. we all have been experience this lately. These storm coming through one after another. Where we can’t look away at the disaster; like Tom Cruise on that couch circa 2005. But, these beautiful monstrous storms cause more and more problems. The main issue that is popping up is lack of power. I, myself was affected in late June by one of the storms in the Forked River area. I didn’t have power for almost 4 days. Can you say I was cranky? Cranky is an understatement. But, all seriousness for myself and so many others, having no power can cause not only discomfort but many other issues. No power means loss of food, loss of money, medical equipment and medications may be compromised, health concerns for the people and animals of the home. So many issues at hand. Our company can come, service your home and try to get your power back on asap if it’s something that is personal damage to your property. A lot of families look into the generator option, which is such a great choice and eliminates so many problems. Thus, Corona has not only affected all of us in many aspects, it has affected us in this field as well. Unfornutely, the process of getting a generator during this pandemic has become very difficult. Equipment is back ordered for months at a time. Example, we had begun a generator process for someone in march and still are waiting due to how backed up everything is. First, it was the toilet paper, now it’s affected all aspects of home services. Even the process of permits required for an at home stabilized generator is behind. The townships are working in overdrive trying to catch up. We can’t imagine how frustrating this is for all parties and all our local families. But, we will try to help you any way possible. We are here for you Ocean County. Stay safe and be well.

2020 has been anything but cordial to us (eye roll). With wild fires, election issues, then the Rona kicking more asses than Patrick Swayze in Roadhouse, killer hornets, etc. We are all just emotionally feeling drained; like we did when Glenn was killed off of The Walking Dead (Lucille!). But, the show must go on. […] The post 2020 appeared first on JCM Home Services.
